Step 1: Reset the Root Area
Start by lightly misting the root with water. You don’t need to soak it — just enough to soften the existing part so the hair becomes more flexible. Using a comb, gently brush all of the hair straight back. This gives you a clean base to create a new part from.
(This step is especially helpful if the topper was previously blown dry or set in a specific direction.)
Step 2: Draw Your New Part
Once the hair is brushed back, use the end of your comb to create a center part. Take your time here — you’re simply guiding the hair into the new direction. If it naturally tries to fall back toward the old part, that’s completely normal. It’s just muscle memory from how the topper was last dried.
Step 3: Set the New Direction
To help the new center part hold, spritz a little extra water directly at the root. Then use a blow dryer on a low setting to dry the root in that new direction. A few gentle passes are all you need. This resets the hair so the center part stays put and looks natural.
